FAQ's
Ultrafast broadband is the way of the future; using optical fibre technology rather than the slower copper technology (ADSL or VDSL). With ultrafast broadband, you will experience faster download and upload speeds, more reliable connectivity, crisper and sharper video calls, among others.
Standard installations of fibre broadband at a residential address within our coverage area are free.* A ‘standard residential installation’ includes a maximum of 200 metres of UFF network from the street to the external termination point (ETP) to be attached to an exterior wall on your house or building.
To connect apartments, units or properties in a shared driveway to our fibre network, we have to do some build work in areas that are shared by multiple residents. We need to notify your neighbours of this planned work and, in some instances, we may need them to give consent before getting started.
We will assess what needs to be done in the driveway or building to deliver fibre. We will then allocate the work into one of three categories and follow the process set out in the Telecommunications Act for the relevant category. Categories 1 and 2 involve installation work with low to medium impact in communal areas. In these situations we follow a notification process and do not require your neighbours consent. Category 3 is where installation involves a higher impact to communal areas and will require consent from your neighbours.
When installing fibre in shared driveways and multi-dwelling units, we will assess what needs to be done in the driveway or building to deliver fibre. There are a number of different installation methods we use to get fibre to your property and every situation is different. Our friendly technicians will visit your property, agree on a plan, arrange installation works to be done and ensure everything is left as it was before they arrived.
