You may be able to get it sooner than properties that require installation. If you have an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) already installed in your home, all you may need is a simple reactivation to get a fibre service up and running.

If you have an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) already installed in your home, all you may need is a simple ‘reactivation’ to get a fibre service up and running!

Is there an Optical Network Terminal (ONT) inside your property? It may look like this or this.

Plug in and power up the ONT. If the ‘Power’ indicator turns a solid green, proceed to Step 3.

If you are unable to find the power cable, click here to request one for free and we’ll courier it to you straight away. Alternatively you can phone us at 0800 342 735

Contact your preferred broadband service provider to place an order for a fibre service. See a list of broadband service providers.

IMPORTANT: Don’t forget to advise your broadband service provider that you have an ONT installed at your home and if you encountered any issues switching it on.

Don’t take the ONT and the power plug with you! These are properties of Ultrafast Fibre and removing them from the premises will render them unusable and make it unnecessarily challenging for the next person to get fibre

Is there an Ultrafast Fibre equipment in your property? Contact our Assurance Team at 0800 342 735 to talk to our team if you are planning on some reno work.

With fibre, faster upload and download speeds make copper broadband a thing of the past. Fibre uses light rather than electronic signals to transfer huge amounts of data at much faster speed.

When travelling over a long distance, fibre experiences less signal loss than copper, which means your browsing speed is independent of your distance to the exchange or roadside cabinet – you get consistently fast upload and download speeds at all times.

With fibre, it’s also a question of how fast you want to go as the network is built to support a range of speed options to suit every type of user whether you are a casual browser or a heavy-use online gamer.

Make the most of these awesome benefits when you switch to fibre:

Ultra-fast speeds allow for quicker downloads and uploads for a seamless, no-buffering streaming experience.

Don’t put up with inconsistent internet! Enjoy the best connection with fibre broadband, always.

Got a busy household? Now you can stream multiple devices and still enjoy a fast connection.

You don’t have to spend more! Get a premium broadband experience for around the same price as copper broadband.

Let fibre broadband support your smart home which could be equipped with lighting, heating or electronic devices controlled remotely by smartphones or computers.

ONT stands for Optical Network Terminal. The ONT (also called modem) connects to the External Termination Point (ETP) with an optical fibre cable and connects to your router (supplied by your broadband service provider) via a LAN/Ethernet cable. It translates light signals from the fibre optic line from your ETP into electric signals that your router can read.

EXISTING HOUSES – Most existing houses may typically have the ONT located in a hallway, lounge or bedroom.

NEW HOUSES – Most new houses may have a communications box that is usually located in the garage.
